Goodyear has confirmed it is poised to introduce a new tyre technology “that will help car makers reach new levels of fuel efficiency and CO2 reductions in Europe.
The tyre giant has still to release details of the new technology, which was developed by the Goodyear Innovation Centre in Luxembourg.
The new product, which is set to be officially unveiled in the next few months, is currently in its final evaluation stage.
Goodyear is known to have carried out many hundreds of hours of research and development on the new technology, and the company admits “it is one of two closely-guarded projects at Goodyear.”
The new technology “is expected to set standards in the tyre industry and will be officially recognised by an independent body.”
“We are in the final phase of a project that will define the goals and ambitions of Goodyear on the environmental front for many years to come,” Hugues Despres, Goodyear brand director, said ” and we look forward to revealing more in the near future.”
