Dacia’s new £8995 Duster, which will enter UK showrooms in January, will be joined by the Sandero supermini. And Dacia’s parent firm, Renault, is keen to price the Sandero aggressively: possibly meaning a sub-£7000 entry price for the Ford Fiesta rival.
Worth noting here that, with Dacia’s past pricing record, the Sandero could, actually, be significantly cheaper: possibly as low as £6k, which would put in competition to be the cheapest new car on sale in the UK.
The initial ‘price target’ for the Duster SUV (pictured) was £10,000: when the price was actually confirmed, it was £1000 cheaper.
The Sandero, which will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September, is expected to have a chunky look, including a grille, front bumper and headlight design similar to that of the Duster.
And though Renault is remaining tight-lipped on the engine line-up for the Sandero, expect naturally aspirated 1.2 and 1.6 petrol engines to be partnered by the familiar 1.5dCi diesel.
