Italian tyre giant Pirelli has helped to contribute £14,450 towards the building of a new Surgery Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The money was raised after Pirelli offered two auction prizes for the F1 Party. The company also raised extra money through donations for rides on an F1 simulator at last month’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
A VIP trip for two with paddock passes to the Italian Grand Prix in Monza next month helped raise £10,000. A further £4000 was raised from the auction of a Brooks PZero bike.
“Every donation — however big or small — helps, so we’re very pleased to have raised this money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, which continues to help sick children the length and breadth of the country,” Dominic Sandivasci, Pirelli UK’s managing director, said.
“I have no doubt the money we have raised will be used in the best possible way and we’re delighted to play a small part in helping this extremely deserving cause.”
The contribution by Pirelli was welcomed by Tim Johnson, executive director at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
“We are grateful to Pirelli for providing such wonderful auction prizes for this year’s F1 Party and for their fantastic efforts at Silverstone,” he said.
“The money raised from both these events will help kick start our fundraising for a new Surgery Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital where some of the world’s most renowned paediatric surgeons will be operating on patients as young as a few hours through to 18 years old.”
