Pirelli has unveiled its new Scorpion Winter tyre. Designed specifically for high-performance SUVs and crossover vehicles, the new tyre features improved safety under braking and cornering.
In addition, according to Pirelli, the Scorpion Winter tyre offers “the same standards of comfort, reliability and handling that was previously only available on sports cars.”
In addition to decreased braking distance in the wet and dry, the Scorpion Winter tyre also stops faster in the snow, plus it delivers greater traction in the snow. The perfect combination.
The new design also helps maximise fuel efficiency: the new tyre delivers a 4% improvement in fuel consumption and reduces external noise by dint of its reduced rolling resistance.
Introduced at the Igora Park snowdome near St. Petersburg, Russia, the Scorpion Winter was put through its paces in a series of tests designed to highlight its performance, road holding and safety.
Designed specifically for the North American market, the Scorpion Winter tyre will be introduced in 21 sizes ranging from 16- to 21-inch wheel diameters. A run-flat version will also be available.
The latest winter tyre completes the range of Scorpion tyres dedicated to SUVs and CUVs, sitting alongside the Scorpion Verde All-Season.
