Vauxhall Adam on sale next month

Vauxhall has confirmed its new ‘premium city car’, Adam, will go on sale as soon as it makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.

Order books will open immediately for all three trim levels — Jam, Glam and Slam — when they are unveiled next month.

Though Vauxhall has yet to confirm prices, it’s believed the entry-level Adam will cost around £11,000. Pricing and spec will be confirmed on the Vauxhall stand in Paris.

Unlike some mainstream rivals, Vauxhall has opted to fit only petrol engines to the new car, with the 69bhp 1.2, plus 86bhp or 99bhp 1.4, being the main sellers.

An all-new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine is scheduled to join the range within 12 months.

All cars will feature stop-start and a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.
