Citroen has lifted the wraps from its all-new DS3 Cabrio which will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show later this month.
Due to enter showrooms early next year — full spec and prices will be announced later — the soft-top cabrio includes an electrically-operated canvas roof which can be closed in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 74mph.
The roof can be opened and closed to three positions — intermediate, horizontal and total — by pressing a button in the DS3 Cabrio’s ceiling console. Designers have included an air deflector net, which is automatically erected when the roof is open, to reduce buffeting in the cabin.
The roof is available in one of three styles – black, light-reflecting blue or a ‘DS Monogramme’ design, and there are a whole host of additional personalisation options available for owners to ‘customise’ their DS.
Citroen even allows buyers to select the body, door mirror housings and wheels in a range of colours.
The cabrio — which is around 25kg heavier than the hatchback — includes a new spoiler along the width of the rear. There’s also aerodynamic deflectors on the quarter-light surrounds and rear LED lights with a 3D effect inspired by those seen on the Revolte and Survolt concept cars.
While the folding roof does reduce boot storage by 40-litres, down to 245-litres, it doesn’t impinge on the interior soak for the five occupants.
