Maserati has lifted the wraps from its new ‘hardcore soft-top’, the 450hp 4.7-litre V8 Grancabrio MC. And just in ace you had around £105,000 spare cash in your pocket. it’ll hit 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds and will go on to a top speed of 177mph.
The newcomer is based on the range topping Granturismo MC Stradale coupé: but instead of the Stradale’s aggressive robotised manual, the MC gets a six-speed ZF automatic ‘box.
And while the Stradale is a strict two-seater, the cabrio has seating for four people.
The most instantly noticeable styling change to the soft-to-top — yes, apart from the roof — is the addition of a large rear boot-lid spoiler: apparently it’s required to reduce lift at high speeds.
Standard-fit sees the spoiler painted in the body colour, but for a few extra quid you can have it in a bare carbonfibre finish. There’s clearly no accounting for taste!
And as a result of the more aggressive aero package, the MC cabrio is 48mm longer than the standard Grancabrio.
When the car arrives in Scottish showrooms early next year, it will come with a number of customisation packages.
