Continental launches new winter tyre

Just as the dark nights begin to edge closer and the temperatures begins to dip, Continental has launched its latest winter tyre.

The ContiWinterContact TS850 — suitable for a wide range of cars from compact, to mid size — is the latest generation winter tyre from Europe’s leading tyre manufacturer, and hits the road with a range of innovative technical features.

Building upon the success of its predecessor the ContiWinterContact TS830, this latest addition offers even better grip on typical wintry roads, as well as shorter braking distances in the wet, enhanced handling, extended mileage and a further reduction in rolling resistance, making it an excellent companion for winter driving conditions.

Safety at the highest possible level is one thing all Continental tyres have in common but this is where  the ContiWinterContact TS850 — currently available in 15-16in rim sizes — will excel this winter.

To make the tyre safer, more cost-efficient and eco-friendly, Continental engineers have utilised state-of-the-art technology for enhanced performance.

Continental’s latest tyre features a high number of block edges and sipes, helping to increase traction and braking performance on snow and ice. At the same time, more edges are available to transfer lateral forces when negotiating bends or changing lanes at high speed. This ensures perfect handling and outstanding grip even in extreme driving situations.

By using a harder apex and additional bead reinforcement, lateral forces can be better transferred when steering.

Thanks to the more flexible sidewall area, less energy is lost when deflecting or rebounding. This results in a noticeably more comfortable drive, perfect handling and less rolling resistance.

Continental sold a total of 21 million winter tyres in 2011, and the ContiWinterContact TS850 — already placed first in the German AutoBild Winter Tyre Test 2012 in size 205/55 R 16 — continues to raise the benchmark set by its predecessor.

In the AutoBild (Germany’s largest motoring magazine) test, the tyre achieved outstanding ratings on snow and ice as well as in fuel consumption and wear, thereby showing that it has overcome these conflicting goals to a level never achieved before.

Blackcircles.com stocks a comprehensive range of winter tyres, in addition to those from all the other leading tyre manufacturers, all at the most competitive prices. Plus we can arrange for you to have your car’s new tyres fitted at a time and location best-suited to you.
