Kia’s new Picanto, the three-door ‘City’, has just gone on sale across the UK, with prices starting at £10,245.
The latest model is part of Kia’s ‘Original’ range, which stems from the idea of a fashion collection – being frequently updated with distinct styles and personalities.
Ok, don’t ask too many questions: we guess Kia’s marketing department had to come up with something quirkily original. Does it work? We’ll leave that to you.
Anyway, the Picanto ‘City’ features a signature red grille, 14in alloys, chrome door handles, heated door mirrors and front fog lights.
Blaze Red or Bright Silver metallic paint is standard, and reversing sensors are also included in the package.
Inside the Picanto’s cabin, there’s premium cloth upholstery, ample storage for personal items and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls.
Features unique to the ‘City’ include ambient LED lighting and a “Hollywood” style vanity mirror with three-stage illumination sequence. Bluetooth is also standard.
The Picanto City is powered by a three-cylinder 1.0MPI engine, with a five-speed manual gearbox. Capable of delivering 67.3mpg, it also emits just 99g/km of CO2.
Kia has also paid significant attention to safety, with the new city car including Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management and Hill Assist Control as standard. ‘City’ is also fitted with Cornering Brake Control, which is a first in the Picanto range.
It also comes with six airbags and five three-point seatbelts, making it one of the few 5-seaters in its class.
The baby Picanto is also covered by Kia’s pioneering seven-year warranty and owners can cover the first three services of the car with Kia’s Care-3 service package for just £269.
