Just days before the clocks go back this weekend, and we slip into winter, Goodyear has confirmed that it has fitted its UltraGrip 8 winter tyre to more than seven million rims. The tyre was only launched in 2011.
Assuming that all cars fitted received four tyres, that means that 1,750,000 cars in Europe were, or are, driving on UltraGrip8 during the coldest months of the year. The results make the UltraGrip 8 one of Goodyear’s leading winter tyres.
UltraGrip-branded tyres were first launched in 1971 and have, to date, been produced over 60 million times, across eight generations of the product.
The UltraGrip 8 generation takes credit for 12% of that massive figure alone in the past 3 years.
“UltraGrip 8 builds on a legacy of winter tyres that started over 30 years ago, and today it is one of our leading winter tyres in Europe”, Hugues Despres, brand director for Goodyear EMEA, said.
“With seven million tyres produced and fitted to date, the UltraGrip 8 is clearly a tyre of choice for our customers and we look forward to achieving new records with the tyre in the near future.”
