It was announced this month that Michelin are planning on launching the all new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyre in January 2017.
Designed to deliver an unbeatable performance for top of the range sports cars and high performance saloons, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S is said to provide motorists with an unparalleled driving experience.
Michelin have worked hard to ensure that the new generation tyre delivers maximum performance, as well as safety, no matter what surfaces are being tackled – with an optimised tread pattern that grips the surface of the road in extreme conditions.
The new Pilot Sport 4 S has also been tipped to display top of the line braking performance – on both dry and wet surfaces.
Michelin have used a bi-compound technology to ensure the tyre is capable of acheiving top performance in both wet and dry conditions. With the outer tread using a new hybrid compound to enhance dry grip, the inner section of the tread takes advantage of a compound rich in silica and elastomers for consistent grip on wet ground.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S – Dry Braking
When compared with a leading competitor, the new Michelin Pilot 4 S stopped at 33.66 meters from 62 mph, almsot an entire car lenght shorter than their competitor.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S – Wet Braking
On a wet track the Michelin tyre stopped at 27.73 metres from 50 mph to 0, with the competitor taking 1.6 metres longer.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S – Wear
The Dekra Test Center found that Michelin’s new Pilot Sport 4 S achieved the best longevity in its class – being the only tyre to go over the 31,068 miles barrier.
Designed For Distinguished Sports Cars
The Michelin Pilot 4 S has been constructed to satisfy the owners of top cars from manufacturers such as BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche.
As with other top of the line Michelin models, the Pilot Sport 4 S has been designed with Michelin Premium Touch Technology® – this enhances the tyre’s sidewall design.
As the majority of high end cars come equipped with larger diameter wheels, and low profile tyres, the Michelin Pilot 4 S has been developed with a rim protector to ensure that, in most cases, a car’s alloys avoid contact with the curb.
With a launch date of January 2017 for Europe, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S will be made available in 19 and 20 inch diameters – making it suitable for 92% of the market.
