Porsche have approved the new Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 as original equipment for the new 911 GT3 RS. The latest in Dunlop’s Sport Maxx Race models, the Sport Maxx Race 2 was developed alongside Porsche to achieve the superior performance levels necessary for the new GT3 RS to reach its potential.

Sizes 265/35R20 (99Y) XL and 325/30R21 (108Y) XL will be supplied to Porsche. With the newly approved tyres carrying the ‘N’ rating given to all Porsche approved tyres. After rigorous testing on Nürburgring Nordschleife & Porsche’s test track in Nardò, Dunlop say the Sport Maxx Race 2 delivered excellent results on dry surfaces as well as very quick lap times for performance drivers.

Jan Frank, Porsche Motorsport lead Development Engineer said “The Sport Maxx Race 2 is an excellent match for our 911 GT3 RS, in terms of dry performance, grip and steering precision. Dunlop’s demonstrated quality and their capability to understand and implement our requirements are the key to success.”

This is not the first time Dunlop have been the brand of choice for Porsche’s GT cars. The first 991 GT3 was equipped with the Sport Maxx Race in 2013 and have continued to develop their tyres and have them Porsche approved for every model since.

The tyre has been designed using data collected by Dunlop through their motorsport tyres and uses a motorsport derived compound allowing the tyre to heat up quicker than a normal compound tyre. This delivers high grip levels and improvesperformance handling dramatically, something very important for cars like the GT3 RS.
