Fifty-five years since Jack Brabham and Goodyear won the Formula One World Championship in 1966, they have joined forces for the release of the new Brabham BT62R.

In a three-part series, Goodyear take us on a journey through time. Looking at Jack Brabham’s ’66 win and subsequent success in motorsport through to today, with Jack’s son David Brabham introducing the revival of the Brabham name.

In 2019 Brabham launched the BT62 as the ‘ultimate track car’ with 700bhp coming from a 5.4-liter V8 engine and over 1200kgs of downforce, the perfect tyre pairing was found in a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tyres. Debuting at the Britcar ‘Into the Night’ race at Brands Hatch, Goodyear & Brabham won once again.

Looking ahead, David Brabham introduces the BT62R, the road going version of the BT62. Fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport RS tyres, designed for enthusiasts driving on track at the limit, while also being suitable for road use. A perfect match with the BT62R, a car derived from the ‘ultimate track car’ but with a few changes that allow the vehicle to be driven legally on the road.

The main differences between the track-only BT62 and road going BT62R are slight changes to the aerodynamic design with slightly smaller rear wing, diffuser and front splitter, the suspension also has four lift options, allowing the driver to raise or lower the car as necessary. The interior also gets the addition of some more comfortable features that you might expect from a road car including more plush leather seats.

We look forward to watching the Brabham marque take on some of the most intense endurance races in the world as they set their sights on the 24hrs of Le Mans and hopefully we’ll witness yet another successful chapter in Brabham and Goodyear’s long relationship.
